I am loving these roll-up ballet flats from Footzyrolls. I love wearing heels and I usually sacrifice comfort for the sake of fashion, so here is where Footzyrolls come in! They come folded up and in a cute little satin bag that you can throw in your purse, glove compartment, gym locker, or anywhere you want to stash a nice pair of comfy flats.

HP: Ultrabook™ Bag Contest

Intel. Vote for your favorite bag design!

So I'm pretty much a tech nerd and I'm not afraid to admit it. I don't know what I'd do without my laptop, tablet, video camera, phone and digital camera. I'm also a girly girl, so I'm always interested in seeing how the fashion world is transforming accessories into tech-friendly pieces.
That's what the talented people at Project Runway & HP decided to do with the HP Ultrabook™ Bag Contest. They've chosen 40 bag designs and you can VOTE for your favorite. The grand prize winner will receive $10,000 and an HP Spectre XT Ultrabook™, inspired by Intel. The top 5 will each receive an HP Spectre XT Ultrabook™, inspired by Intel. Not bad right?

Above bag designed by Project Runway's Mondo Guerra
So what would I love in my perfect tech-friendly handbag? Oh I can think of lots of things, but definitely an interior protected compartment for my laptop or tablet. Probably for my tablet, since my laptop is rather large. I have to have a cell phone slot which thankfully most bags already have. One thing I would LOVE to have is some sort of power dock hidden inside of the bag. Like those wireless power pad things you may have heard about. I used to hate sitting through a 3 hour college lecture and having to get up to plug my laptop in. The wire would then become a trip hazard for anyone trying to pass by my seat.

I would love the bag to be as fashion forward as I dream I am, and include all the latest bag trends. I don't want people to know what I'm carrying around in my bag just by looking at it. Now if only one of those 40 designers can design my tech dream bag, I'd be all set! ;)

Make sure you check out all of the designs and VOTE for your favorite.

I can't wait to see who wins!  I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls Collective, and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.

DIY Princess Throne

I searched all over the internet for months trying to find the perfect princess throne for my daughter's birthday party. I found a couple of cute ones, but they were either sold out everywhere or they were $300-$400!
I decided I would try to make one myself. I started asking on second hand facebook groups if anyone had an old chair that they wanted to sell. Finally someone tagged me in a post where a lady was selling a white wicker chair with a pink cushion for $15. Well I couldn't message her fast enough!
I picked up the chair and began the process of making it into a throne. Here is what I did:

(DISCLAIMER!!! I am NOT a seamstress! I think I have used my sewing machine a total of 5 times since high school and I know I did things a little backwards when making the cushion, but it worked for me, so I'm ok with that lol).
1. The white wicker chair (minus the pink seat cushion).
2. I put a large piece of brown paper up against the back of the chair so I could trace and cut out the pattern for my back cushion.
3. I cut out the pattern and laid it on top of some pink satin fabric. I cut out two pieces of satin for the front and back of the cushion.
4. I then ironed the fabric on a low/synthetic setting.
5. I matched the pieces together and sewed almost all the way around the fabric. Leaving a large enough opening for stuffing.
(I really should have done this with the wrong sides facing out so the stitch would have been in the inside of the cushion. I didn't care though because I was going to cover the stitching with a french gimp trim and that gave me an edge to attach the trim).
6. My cushion after filling with stuffing. ( I probably should have attached the buttons before stuffing, but I forgot...oh well lol) I stitched the hole closed at the bottom corner.
7. I hand-sewed the buttons on and then I then hot glued (oh how I love my glue gun!) the gold french gimp all around the outside of the cushion.
8. The finished cushion.
9. I then attached the cushion to the back of the chair with hot glue.
10. The pink seat cushion came with the chair or I would have had to make a matching one (Praise the Lord I didn't have to do that! lol).
And finally, I bought an inexpensive pink tutu off amazon for $5, cut the back of it so it would open up and attached it to the front of the chair with hot glue.
I found a wooden crown on Etsy,  painted it, and added some "bling" :)
That's it...a throne fit for a princess and the whole thing only cost me around $30.

I hope you like it! :)

    Eggo Bread Pudding

    Photo via
So I've always wanted to make bread pudding, especially since I am a huge Food Network's Chopped fan and it seems to be a favorite for the dessert round. I also buy lots of Rice Milk ever since my daughter had a year where she couldn't have any dairy. I've continued to give her and my twin boys rice milk ever since.

On the back of the vanilla flavored rice milk is a bread pudding recipe that I have wanted to try for years now. I decided today was the day, however, I only had a quarter of a loaf of bread in my pantry, and the recipe calls for a pound of (french) bread. What I did have, however, is the Sam's Club size box of Eggo waffles(Can you tell I'm a mom? LOL). I figured Eggos are pretty much a sweeter version of bread, so I decided to use them instead of bread for the recipe.

I followed the recipe on the back of the rice milk carton and substituted with the Eggos, said a small prayer and threw it into my oven. While the bead pudding was cooking, I made a quick maple syrup sauce to pour over the bread pudding as a topping.

    Here is the finished product:

Can you say OH MY YUMMY?!?!?!?!
The consistency was perfect, the taste was a wonderful compilation of sweet vanilla, cinnamon and sugar, bread and buttery goodness! I also loved the raisins in it as well.
The maple syrup topping sealed the deal with an extra pop of sweet and buttery flavors.

You certainly don't have to use Rice Milk if you don't want to. You can use milk, half and half, cream, whatever. I would make sure to add some vanilla though if you don't use the vanilla-flavored rice milk.

Here are the recipes for the bread pudding and maple syrup sauce:

    Bread Pudding (Made with Eggos):
    Serves 8-12

12 Homestyle Eggos. (I microwaved them until soft and tore them into 1 inch pieces)
     4 eggs, beaten
    2 egg yolks, beaten
    3 tablespoons butter, softened
1 1/2 cups sugar (I used white, you could probably use brown if you wanted)
    1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
    1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups cold Rice Dream Vania rice milk
    1/2 cup raisins

Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9"x13" baking dish with non stick vegetable oil. Tear Eggos (bread) into 1 inch pieces and place in baking dish. Mix beaten eggs, yolks, butter and 1 1/4 cup sugar in large bowl. Put remaining 1/4 cup sugar aside. Add nutmeg, cinnamon and rice milk to mixture, whisking until well blended. Stir in raisins. Pour mixture over Eggos and then pat Eggos and raisins gently into mixture to coat and prevent burning. Let set for 10 minutes so Eggos can absorb mixture. Cover baking dish with foil. Bake 35 minutes. Remove foil and sprinkle with remaining sugar (and I also added some extra cinnamon). Bake uncovered for another 30-40 minutes, or until top is golden brown and pudding puffs (This was about 35 min for me). Take the pudding out and let it set for about 20 minutes and serve warm.

    Maple Syrup Sauce:

    1 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons heavy cream (I used 4 tablespoons of half and half because that's all I had lol)
    3 tablespoons butter

Place the syrup in a small, heavy-bottomed sauce pan, and cook it over medium-high heat until reduced to 3/4 cup. Remove from heat and whisk in cream (half and half) and finish by slowing whisking in butter. Keep sauce warm. Pour over bread pudding just before serving.

    Bon Appetit!
