Mary Kay Timewise Firming Eye Cream Review & Giveaway!

I was sent the Mary Kay Timewise Firming Eye Cream back in June and I've been using it around my eyes morning and night.

What I love about the eye cream is I definitely can notice a firmness around my eye area after applying it and I also noticed that I look more awake after applying it.

A little bit goes a long way, as it's only .5 oz. and I'm not even half way through the bottle yet.

I also love the moisturization it provides under my eyes.

Mary Kay's description of the Firming Eye Cream states:

This luxuriously rich eye cream is so advanced it improves firmness, brightens and provides intense moisturization, plus minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Contains soothing botanical extracts and brightening agents to help condition the skin for moisturization, resulting in a more even skin tone.
  • Ophthalmologist-tested.
  • Suitable for all skin types.
  • Hypoallergenic.
  • Suitable for contact lens wearers.
As far as minimizing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, I would say it firms the skin temporarily around my eyes, which gives the appearance of less lines. The lines also do not appear as deep.  With those results; I'm a happy camper :)

If you'd like more information about the Firming Eye Cream, please contact Mary Kay representative Sue Clonklin.

Despicable Me Minion Birthday Party

My twin boys Liam and Jude turned 3 this past August 16th, and I hosted a Despicable Me Minion party for them since they watch the movie over and over. It really is the cutest movie and their first time in a movie theater was when we went to see Despicable Me 2, so they were so excited when they saw the party decor.

Above is the cake/sweets table.
I made the backdrop with a cardboard presentation board I found at Walmart for $2.77.
I also found a Despicable Me Minion poster that I glued to the board, and then I printed out and glued the two Happy Birthday To Me Minion images to it as well.

The Table Cloth, Dinner Plates, and cups were purchased from ShinDigz.com, and the party hats, balloons, and decorating kit were all purchased on Amazon.

The Operation Despicable Me 2 Game was also purchased on Amazon.

Now let's talk about the food!
Now the cake was just phenomenal and I can't say enough about how perfect it was!
The cake was created by Cake Art and the inside was a fun, confetti cake, with yummy vanilla frosted layers. I mean look at this cake!!!! I'm still utterly amazed!
It really broke my heart to cut into it.

Next up are the adorable Minion Cake Pops created by the very talented Yummy! Sweet Shop.
They were not only super cute, but tasted so good! They were a huge hit with the kids.
The detail on these little guys is just amazing!

Next are the Despicable Me Candy Minions.
I made these little chocolate covered spoons myself, and you can find the directions on how to make them HERE

Next up are the Despicable Me Minion Cupcakes created by Ashbee's Cupcakes and Such.
How cure are these little guys?

I also decided to add some "Coconutties" from the movie to the table.
I used Keebler Coconut Dreams cookies as the "Coconutties" and I printed out and constructed the Coconutties box from an online image found Here

And here are the birthday boys Liam and Jude sporting their personalized minion shirts from PolkaBean on Etsy.
I also purchased the file for the printable Minion Goggles from Schnookers on Etsy.

I purchased the Happy Birthday Banner on Amazon, and printed out Minion eyes and mouths (from EmporioEliteDigital on Etsy) onto sticker paper and stuck them on yellow balloons and a few gifts.

Stepping outside the kids had a blast in this Toy Story inflatable (we couldn't find a Despicable Me one at the time). This super fun bounce house has a large jump area, basketball hoop inside with ball, and a ladder and slide. You can even attach a water hose to the top of the slide if you wanted.
We rented this bounce house from Rommel's Ace Hardware.

So I hope you enjoyed this party, and if you are planning a Despicable Me Minion Party, I hope this post was helpful to you as well.

Hydrocare Iron 300x Review and Promo Code

Photos Courtesy of Hydrocare USA
My home has well water and we also have a water softener, but the softener doesn't get rid of all the nasty discoloration and smell that comes along with having well water. Now the level of iron in my water wasn't too terribly bad, but it was bad enough where you could smell that rotten egg smell when you turned on the faucets. My white laundry all turned into an off white/cream color, my kids' bath water and pool water was always a cloudy, yellowish color and being blonde...well let's just say my hair would end up more copper looking than the cool blonde tone I was looking for.

I recently was sent Hydrocare USA's Iron 300X to review in my home. I was so excited to finally be getting rid of the iron in my water and was happy to see that there is a system out there that will remove all the nasty stuff from your water and also is affordable. When I had someone quote me a system last year, it was well over $2000.00!!!!

The system came and I had a plumber install it. The installation process (per the plumber) was "quick and easy."
This is what the system looks like when it's installed:

It's a pretty simple setup:

The Hydrocare Iron 300X:
  • Removes Iron, Rust, Hydrogen Sulfide, Manganese and Sediment
  • Removes Chemicals and Pesticides
  • No Backwashing Required
  • No Salt or Chemicals Needed
  • No Power Required
  • Virtually No Loss in Pressure
  • Easy Installation and Filter Replacement
  • Environmentally Friendly
I can now say that I can drink straight from the tap and my water tastes just as good as from my filtered water pitcher. The smell is gone, the water is clear, and my new whites stay white. The best part (for me anyway lol) is that my hair keeps the salon colors that I pay a ridiculous amount of money for.

If you have well water you NEED the Iron 300X!!!!

Hydrocare USA also has systems for city water as well to remove all of the Chlorine and other nasty chemicals that they put in our drinking water! For more info about their City Water system, click HERE
Hydrocare was kind enough to offer Life Songs Of A Busy Mom readers a $100 discount promo code! Making the cost of the whole system $699 instead of $799!!!

Kidde Worry-Free Smoke Alarm For The New Maryland Law

This is a Public Service Announcement for my fellow Maryland residents:

Is Your Home Affected by Maryland’s Smoke Alarm Law?
Do you…
  • Live in a home that uses battery-powered smoke alarms?
  • Ever forget to replace the batteries in your smoke alarm?
  • Have smoke alarms installed only in hallways and not in every bedroom?
  • Know the last time you replaced your smoke alarm? Was it more than 10 years ago?
  • Do you plan to renovate your home or move to a new residence?
If you answered “Yes” to these questions, check your fire safety equipment today.
As of July 1, 2013, Maryland law requires homeowners to replace existing battery-operated smoke alarms with ones containing a 10-year sealed battery. These long-life alarms will provide continuous power for a decade, meaning you never have to remember to replace batteries.

The law also states that smoke alarms shall be upgraded in all existing residential dwellings to include at least one alarm on each floor, including basements, as well as in each sleeping area.
Homes must also upgrade upon change of ownership or tenant if the residence uses battery-powered alarms and upon the issue of a building permit.

Why Act Today?
Dead or missing batteries are the main reason smoke alarms don’t respond in a fire, and most fatal fires happen in homes where the alarm either didn’t operate or wasn’t present. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) recommends installing smoke alarms on each floor and in sleeping areas, yet three out of four U.S. homeowners don’t know where to place them. On average, you have less than three minutes from the sound of the first smoke alarm to escape. The sooner you hear an alarm, the more time you have to respond.
Additionally, the NFPA recommends replacing all smoke alarms every 10 years. Aging smoke alarms may not operate efficiently and often are the source for nuisance alarms. Surveys show 20% of alarms in older homes have never been replaced. Have yours?

Upgrade Today with Kidde Worry-Free Alarms
Kidde’s Worry-Free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms comply with this law. Equipped with a 10-year sealed-in lithium battery and location-specific features, each smoke alarm is designed to make it simple to pick the right alarm for the right location. Install Worry-Free alarms and you won’t hear those annoying low battery chirps or deal with the hassle of replacing batteries for a decade. For more information, visit www.kidde.com

You also can get yours now at Home Depot. Click HERE
